There is just ONE thing that doesn't change...

As my father says...
The only constant is change
Which is a funny paradox. But a very true one.
Maybe you can find some loophole or perspective that disproves this view, but I highly doubt that perspective would hold any benefit.
Because everything is changing all the time. With and without your awareness.
Whether it be the seconds, minutes and hours; the pace of clouds or slight tilting of trees; the amount of honey in a hive, or the amount of gas in your tank.
Everything is fluctuating. Everything is changing.
The job position you have today may be the one you hold next year. But what about in 5 years? In 10 years? One day you retire. One day you are unable to work. Or one day you simply find better work.
The person you call your best friend today may still be in your life a decade from now.
But their laughter might sound different. Their eyes might carry new stories. They might move cities, grow families, change names - or simply grow apart from you, gently or abruptly.
The building at the end of your street might be there tomorrow.
But one day it gets sold. Then painted. Then torn down. Then replaced with a coffee shop, or flats, or something you never thought would be there.
The clothes you love wearing now will one day feel wrong.
Too tight, too loose, too outdated, too unlike the person you're becoming.
Even your face will change in the mirror - subtly, then all at once. A wrinkle here. A wrinkle there. A sharper jaw. Softer eyes. And then you're a new person!
Your routines shift. Your tastes evolve.
You might one day hate the food you crave now. Or suddenly fall in love with something you used to push to the edge of your plate.
Songs you once screamed with joy - may one day just make you sigh.
Even your memories change.
The same childhood moment told again and again warps slightly each time. Faces blur. Emotions get louder or quieter. The edges of truth get smoothed into an easy story.
The people you once feared might no longer have power over you.
The ones you once idolised might fall below you.
The places you thought you'd never leave might start to feel way too small.
Everything will change. Nothing is permanent. Change is permanent.
But that also means beautiful emotions like love, connection, purpose, joy, fulfillment, happiness and everything else holy... will one day feel vague.
The sound of your happy laughs may be too far in the past; leaving just your grumpy moans and tired whines.
Feelings of intense love and care for another soul vanish; making you wonder why you put their needs as your own.
Purpose was fulfilled, life was at its peak, but now your at the bottom of your mountain, realising that what you had achieved was the summit of a projected path.
Good times will fade.
But so will the bad times.
Agony and despair will one day blow over; given time, love and effort.
Pain you feel at your worst, will be soften with the balm of care and understanding.
Regret for actions untaken will vanish when you act toward purpose, pamper your compassion, and show others the same love.
Whether you're having the best days of your life... or the hardest time of your life. Realise now that it is merely one time in your life. One moment.
Embrace it. Live it.
Own it.
For it is the only thing you have.
Because change means you own nothing but the moment, for how can you own / lose what is already past or what has not come?
But the free time you have own now may not be so free tomorrow.
So take this truth as medicine. Knowing we only own the moment should empower you to spend it on what makes you happy now, what makes you happy in the next moment, and for as many moments that may follow.
As, just because the moment may be sad, doesn't mean the moment will always be sad.
Just because sadness is inevitable doesn’t mean you should spend your happiness worrying about it. Your happiness is in the moment. Your sadness isn't.
Don't let the moment stop you. And don't let the future or past moments take what is yours.
For change is the only constant.
