Ascension = Understanding

Cooked.
One word that describes modern life most.
Not cooked as in cooking. Not cooked as in life is great.
Cooked as in fucked.
And I say that with utmost love.
But let me actually explain how.
And I promise you - after reading this text, even if you don't read anything from me again - you'll operate at a higher level.
Think ooga booga
Whether you believe we are creations of God; creations of The All; creations of evolution; creations of code; or anything else. One thing stands true.
We were not meant for modern life.
Our bodies are primed for a life of ooga booga. For a life where we wake at sunrise, hunted for food, stayed out in the sun, and slept at nightfall.
We were designed/evolved/created with this type of life in sight.
We were meant to walk thousands of steps per day.
We were meant to sprint daily toward our food.
We were meant to eat completely natural.
We were meant to stay out in the sun.
We were meant to bond with each other.
We were meant to be happy.
Now think modern
However, modern life has stripped our natural happiness, fulfillment, purpose, peace and reason away from us.
We now take barely any steps per day.
We now never run or sprint.
We now eat a bunch of junk food our bodies are prone to digest.
We now stay indoors away from the sun. Using sunscreen for our lack of health.
We now struggle to bond and socialise - attacking anyone with conflicting views.
We are no longer happy.
And what can you expect?
After taking away so many things that were meant to live through daily, no wonder we are wrecks!
It doesn't help that now our subconscious - which used to guide us properly - is primed to choose the most frequent habit, which now bad for us! (More on subconscious later and in other texts).
And if you really don't believe my word, here are some facts from studies:
(You don't have to read this, I will give actionable advice later. But do as you please.)
Sunlight:
- Mood Boost: Sunlight increases serotonin in the brain, which enhances positive mood and calm. Lower sunlight exposure (e.g. in winter) has been linked to drops in serotonin and higher seasonal depression risk.
- Vitamin D and Stress: Outdoor light accelerates Vitamin D production and suppresses excess cortisol. Adequate Vitamin D levels (often from sun) are associated with better mood; in one cohort a daily 1.5h dose of sun corresponded to a significantly lower depression incidence.
- Sleep and Well-Being: Sunlight helps entrain circadian rhythms, improving sleep quality and daytime energy. Studies cite that office workers with more daylight have better sleep and mental health, and sunlight therapy is effective in treating disorders like seasonal affective disorderhealthline.com.
- Psychological Health: Observational studies confirm more time outdoors correlates with better mental health. For example, a study of healthcare workers found longer daily sunlight exposure was significantly associated with better overall mental health scores.
Walks:
- Depression and Anxiety: Meta-analyses show even modest activity protects mental health. Meeting public-health exercise guidelines (≈150 min/week moderate activity) was linked to a ~25% lower depression risk, and incremental increases in daily movement produced proportional mood improvements.
- Brain Function: Moderate aerobic activity strengthens brain networks. One study found that older adults on a 12-week walking program showed stronger default-mode and salience network connectivity and much better memory recall. This suggests exercise can slow cognitive decline (e.g. delay dementia onset).
- Overall Well-Being: Physical activity lowers systemic inflammation and improves cardiovascular health, which in turn boosts mood and energy. Breaking up sedentary time with brief walks also improves mood and reduces stress. Experts emphasize, “any movement, every movement, every step counts,” noting that small amounts of walking (even 5–10 minutes breaks) can significantly aid mental health.
Nature:
- Stress Reduction: Time in parks or forests lowers the stress hormone cortisol. One expert summary notes that green-space exposure yields “increased positive emotions and decreased anxiety and rumination”.
- Mood Enhancement: Nature experiences boost happiness and calm. In adults, short nature walks or even window views of greenery have been linked to lower depression/anxiety and higher mental well-being.
- Cognitive Restoration: Natural environments help recover attention and focus. For example, children with ADHD concentrate significantly better after spending time in green settings.
- Physical Health: Nature supports physical health in ways that feed back into mental health (more exercise, vitamin D, fresh air). Greater time in green areas is correlated with higher physical activity levels and lower chronic disease risk
Sedentary lifestyle:
- Physical Risks: Sitting for long periods impairs metabolism and circulation. Data show high sedentary time correlates with higher rates of obesity, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Even meeting exercise guidelines may not fully offset the harms of long periods of inactivity.
- Mental Health: People with very sedentary lifestyles report more anxiety and depression. For instance, analyses find that mentally passive sitting (e.g. watching TV or browsing) is positively correlated with higher depression scores. One public health summary notes that “the risk of both anxiety and depression is higher in people that sit more”.
- Mortality and Disease: WHO and other agencies highlight that physical inactivity (common in modern indoor lifestyles) raises all-cause mortality risk and contributes to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, dementia and certain cancers.
- Lifestyle Factors: Sedentary habits often coincide with other unhealthy behaviors (poor diet, social isolation, disrupted sleep), compounding mental-health effects. A report on COVID-19 lockdowns, for example, linked increased screen/sitting time to spikes in depression and loneliness.
Subconscious:
- Automaticity: Habitual behaviors are automatic responses to context cues, which persist even when conscious motivation fades. For example, one study showed that after ~10–12 weeks of repeating a simple action (like eating fruit after a meal), participants performed it automatically without thinking.
- Brain Mechanisms: Brain-imaging research reveals that non-conscious neural activity heavily biases decisions and intentions. In practice, this means choices may feel “free” but are influenced by prior brain states and learned patterns.
- Implications for Well-Being: Because habits and the subconscious drive our routines, many daily decisions (diet, activity, sleep) occur on autopilot. Interventions that target habit formation (consistent cues, small repeated actions) have been shown to produce lasting behavior change and better health outcomes. Conversely, unhelpful environmental cues (e.g. easy access to screens/snacks) can trap us in unhealthy loops that harm mental health.
So what does this all mean bro??
Aight look.
Most of us are cooked.
But it's okay.
It is really okay. I don't want anyone to go down a rabbit hole of regret, despair or hate.
Because as you'll learn in my later texts - those emotions are unproductive, destructive and we are very capable of choosing greater peace.
So before I go any further, let me tell you: it's not your fault.
Not your fault at all.
Upbringing & Parental Blindspots
If your parents knew about all this, they would of given you a life of health.
Because a life of health is a stable life with energy. A life of health makes happiness so much easier if not guaranteed.
But, more likely than not, they didn't see the hole picture.
And it's not their fault either.
Information like this is hard to get. And truth is even harder to find.
Studies rigged and funded. Community spaces positively feeding back lies. Social media inflating human nature.
Lies are everywhere. It's a hard world for truth.
But whilst others may say one thing: results say another.
I have seen many people that I know change their lives when they changed their health (mind, diet, lifestyle).
And its what I live for man. I live for it. That feeling when I see other people rise and succeed.
I wish you all surpass me.
Because maybe I am just meant to be a stepping stone for others. And I certainly don't mind if my purpose is that purely (more on purpose and why its so crucial in later texts) - because its damn fulfilling.
So, just know it's hard to get truth and your unhappiness is not your fault.
BUT, now that you are are aware... now it's different.
You are no longer ignorant. You are now responsible.
You understand now.
Before you didn't.
You understand that there is reason for every single emotion.
You understand that there is a reason you feel unhappy, sad, angry, impatient, or anything else negative.
You understand there is a proper way to live - and let me tell you it's incredibly flexible.
But what I want you to understand most is: that it's now all under your control.
Whether you improve, ignite and take involve.
Or whether you degrade, dismiss and deny.
But no matter what.
You've changed.
This information is a wake-up call.
It will stay in your mind.
Because deep down its the truth you've been seeking.
And it's truth that gives you control over your life.
So, I'll see you in the next text where I go over the very framework that gave ascended me.
But your first step? Go outside. Take walk. And reflect.
Until then,
Peace,
Love,
Purpose,
Seb.
